Call for Papers

Workshop on
"Regional Development Policy, Institutions, and Migration"
with Professor Andrés Rodríguez-Posé, London

Professor Andrés Rodríguez-Posé will be keynote speaker at 2017 Jena Lecture Series in Economic Geography (JLS). In addition to the keynote speech (May 9, 2017, 6 pm) we organize a Workshop where participants have the opportunity of presenting and discussing their research with Professor Rodríguez-Posé. We here-with invite interested PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to submit extended abstracts or full papers addressing original research related to the topic of the Workshop. Abstracts and papers should be written in English.
Andrés Rodríguez-Posé is Professor of Economic Geography at the London School of Economics, and President of the Regional Science Association International. Besides his outstanding research activities on regional development, development policies, and institutions, he is on the Editorial Board of a number of leading international journals in economic geography, human geography, regional science, and management.

Background information: JLS - Jena Lecture Series in Economic Geography pro-motes the international exchange of ideas and knowledge in Economic Geography and related fields, especially between doctoral students and postdoctoral research-ers. Each year, an outstanding international researcher is invited to Jena to present and discuss current research questions in an evening lecture and two workshops.


The workshop will cover two full days (May 9-10, 2017) and take place at Friedrich-Schiller University, Jena (Universitätshauptgebäude, Senatssaal, Fürstengraben 1). The number of participants is limited to 25.
Paper presentations: Participants having submitted the most advanced papers will have the opportunity of orally presenting their research to Professor Rodríguez-Pose and the other participants.

Abstract Submission and application:

Applications and abstracts, accompanied by a short CV, should be submitted via between January 1 and February 28, 2017.

Important Dates:

  • Deadline for abstract submission: February 28, 2017
  • Notification of acceptance (presentation or poster): March 14, 2017
  • Deadline for registration of accepted applicants: March 21, 2017
  • Final program available: April 4, 2017
  • Date of the event: May 9-10, 2017


Registration: No fee is required.
Meals: During the Workshop, beverages and snacks will be provided by the organizers. There will be joint dinners on both days (self-payment).
