Ecohydrological Modeling

Ecohydrological modeling and monitoring at the Chair of GIScience focuses on the development and application of water and mass balance models for different spatial and thematic scales. These models are mostly implemented within the JAMS framework. A further focus area is the assimilation of field based primary data for the development and validation of the process descriptions implemented in the models.

Research achievements include the development and extension of the JAMS- J2000/J2000-S/J2000g model family for the distributive description of the hydrological and ecohydrological dynamics at different scales. An additation contribution is the development of tools for the delineation of distributive model units on the basis of ARC/INFO or GRASS-GIS. Utilizing these developments several issues such as the description of water and nutrient dynamics, water management and the assessment of land use and climate change impact are addressed.
