Software & Datenmanagement für die Umweltmodellierung

Der Bereich Software & Datenmanagement der Professur für Geoinformatik beschäftigt sich mit der Entwicklung innovativer Methoden und Softwaresysteme für die mathematische Simulation von Umweltprozessen und der Verwaltung von Umweltdaten. Die Schaffung von Schnittstellen zur Integration beider Komponenten stellt einen weiteren Schwerpunkt der Forschung und Anwendung in diesem Bereich dar. In aller Regel erfolgt die Implementierung unter Verwendung von Open-Source Software.

Zu den Ergebnissen der Arbeiten in diesem Bereich zählt unter anderem das Jena Adaptable Modelling System (JAMS)Externer Link, eine Software zur Erstellung, Anwendung und Analyse modular strukturierter Umweltprozessmodelle. Mit dem River Basin Information System (RBIS) wird darüber hinaus eine web-basierte Softwareplattform zur Verwaltung und Bereitstellung von Umweltinformationen entwickelt. Die Entwicklung in diesem Bereich orientiert sich an praxisnahen Problemstellungen und erfolgt in Kooperation mit Industriepartnern und multidisziplinären Projektpartnern.
